If you are interested in learning more about research data management, below are some resources to help you get started:

  • DataOne Education Modules on research data management. Contains PowerPoints that you can incorporate into your teaching. This site also contains links to webinars, screencast tutorials and more.
  • MANTRA is a free online course for students, researchers, academics, and librarians who manage digital data as part of a research project. It contains 8 online modules that you can complete at your own pace and covers topics such as planning, organizing, sharing, storage and security, and more. MANTRA is maintained by the University of Edinburgh.
  • The NNLM (National Network of Libraries of Medicine) has an extensive listing of courses and workshops, including MOOCs, listservs, continuing education and online courses and tutorials related to data management.
  • Portage Canada's Training Resources contain PowerPoint presentations, brief guides, primers, and more.
  • Research Data Management and Sharing MOOC (Massive open online course). The 5-week rolling MOOC on Coursera was created by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Edinburgh. You will receive a certificate of completion.
