How to Place Holds

Steps

  1. Go to the WorldCat Discovery search box on the Library home page.
  2. When an item is searched, and one or more of the available copies are checked out, a Place Hold button will be available under Access Options.

  3. Log in with your North-West University CAS credentials. If you have already logged in, you will not be asked again.
  4. Complete the Hold Request form.

  5. Select the pick-up location from the drop-down list.
  6. Indicate whether you need the item for specific dates.

What are Holds?

  • A library hold is a reservation for a library item (like a book) that is currently checked out or unavailable, allowing you to be notified and pick it up when it becomes available. Placing a hold puts you on a waiting list for the item, and you'll be contacted when it's ready for you to pick up and check out.
